Subject: Resolution Recognizing April 2019, as “Limb Loss Awareness Month” in PA

Know anyone that’s lost a limb?

If you do, then you already realize that it’s a lifetime condition that poses numerous difficulties physically, emotionally and financially.

But the general public remains largely unaware of the challenges facing amputees and their families.

We’d like to help change that by raising awareness. To that end, we’re asking your support in recognizing April 2019, as “Limb Loss Awareness Month.”

Over 2 million Americans of all ages, races and genders live every day with limb loss. Nearly 2,000 are veterans. Over 500 Americans lose a limb daily, which adds up to roughly 185k per year.

And you may be surprised to learn that the leading cause of limb loss is vascular disease. Trauma is #2. That means that there are tens of millions of Americans at risk for amputation, making raising awareness that much more critical.

Join us in this effort. Please consider co-sponsoring “Limb Loss Awareness Month” in Pennsylvania.
