Subject: | Officer Milan Barber Memorial Resolution |
I will soon introduce a resolution honoring the life and sacrifice of the late Officer Milan Barber, formerly of Minersville Borough, Schuylkill County. Office Barber is the only officer to die in the line of duty in the history of Minersville Borough. While on the night shift of June 19, 1970, Officer Barber and his partner attempted to arrest an individual trying to steal a car. A struggle ensued, and Officer Barber was overpowered and suffered a fatal heart attack. He has received a Congressional Commendation, his name is on the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, and his story is on display at the National Law Enforcement Museum’s Hall of Remembrance. In May, his name will be engraved upon the Memorial Wall of the American Police Hall of Fame. In the coming weeks, I will have the honor of presenting this resolution on the House Floor to the family of Officer Barber. I would appreciate your co-sponsorship of this resolution. |
