House of Representatives
Session of 2019 - 2020 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: February 13, 2019 01:11 PM
From: Representative Brian Sims
To: All House members
Subject: Expanding the Property Tax Rent Rebate Program for Renters

In the near future, I intend to reintroduce legislation that would amend the Taxpayer Relief Act of 2006 by increasing the maximum income limit for Property Tax Rent Rebates for renters from $15,000 to $20,000. This legislation is fundamentally similar to House Bill 1118, which was introduced during the 2017-2018 session

Many low-income Pennsylvanians are unable to benefit from the program due to the prohibitively low-income threshold they must meet in order to qualify as a claimant. This minor change will provide much needed financial assistance to some of the most vulnerable citizens of our Commonwealth.

Please join me in supporting this legislation.

Introduced as HB1381
