MEMORANDUM

Posted: February 8, 2019 04:16 PM
From: Representative Martina A. White and Rep. Michael J. Driscoll
To: All House members
Subject: EITC Notification

In the near future, I will introduce legislation that will require payroll companies to notify employees who may qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).

The EITC is a significant benefit for hardworking Pennsylvanians, as it’s money that can positively impact their life, family and community. Statistics show that nationally, four out of five eligible taxpayers receive their EITC. However, missing just that one in five means millions of people are not taking advantage of this valuable credit, some of who reside here in the Commonwealth.

By requiring payroll companies to notify employees of their potential eligibility, my bill will greatly assist those who rightfully earned this tax credit but may not be aware of their eligibility for it. Instead of missing out, these individuals will be made aware and thus receive the economic benefit this federal tax credit provides.

I respectfully ask you to join me in this public awareness effort and co-sponsor this important legislation.
