Subject: | Broadening the Allocation of Proceeds from Lake Erie Fishing Permits Issued by the PA Fish & Boat Commission. |
In the near future, we plan to introduce legislation that would broaden the allocation of proceeds from Lake Erie fishing permits issued by the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission. As you may know, anglers are required to have a Lake Erie fishing permit to fish for any species in Lake Erie, Presque Isle Bay, or their tributaries. The proceeds from sales of these permits are deposited into a restricted account within the Fish Fund to be used to provide public fishing access or to protect or improve fish habitats within these waterways. The legislation that will be introducing would amend Title 30 (Fish) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes to expand the types of fishing-related projects that may be funded through revenue from the sale of Lake Erie fishing permits. This would provide the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission with more flexibility in determining the best ways to use funds to improve public fishing in Lake Erie, Presque Isle Bay, and their tributaries. We would greatly appreciate your support of this proposed legislation. Thank you very much for your consideration. Sincerely, State Representative Parke Wentling 17th Legislative District State Representative Pat Harkins 1st Legislative District |
