Subject: | Urging Diversity on Pennsylvania Corporate Boards of Directors |
Over the last twenty years women have doubled their numbers as directors on publicly held corporate boards, sadly though, they still only make up about sixteen percent of directors in the United States. At the current rate, women will not reach gender parity in corporate leadership for another forty years or more. It is time we as legislators show our support for women in these leadership roles. My resolution follows California’s lead and urges publicly held companies to increase the number of women on their boards by 2021. More women serving on boards of directors of publicly held corporations will boost the Pennsylvania economy and improve opportunities for all women in the workplace. Pennsylvania women are willing and able to help lead Pennsylvania business into the next century. I ask that you join me in co-sponsoring this resolution and stand up for women leaders. |
