MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 28, 2019 01:38 PM
From: Representative Jason Dawkins
To: All House members
Subject: Notifying Elected Officials of Liquor License Applications (Re-Introduction of Former HB1148)

In the near future, I will be re-introducing legislation – former House Bill 1148 of the 2017-2018 Legislative Session – that would require the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) to notify state and local elected officials of new or altered liquor license applications within his or her district.

Specifically, the bill would require the PLCB to send a notification of a new or altered license application in writing, via a certified letter, no later than 15 days after they receive an application. State and local elected officials would include, but not limited to, state representatives, state senators, county commissioners, and city councilmen.

In an ever-changing world, I believe it is important for state and local elected officials to be apprised of modifications throughout his or her region, particularly as it relates to licensed establishments under the state’s Liquor Code.

I hope you will join me in cosponsoring this legislation. Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Introduced as HB1550
