Subject: | Early Voting |
Voters in our state don’t have the freedoms of voters in other states. We are only allowed to vote on Election Day, or by absentee ballot if we are unable to go to the polls due to medical, military, religious reasons, or due to occupational duties. The time has come for Pennsylvania to join other states and offer early voting for our voters. Specifically, early voting would start on the 30th day before an election and extend through the end of the day before Election Day. The location of early voting would be at the county election board and at permanent and temporary polling places as designated by the county board. To ensure everyone has access to early voting, these polling places would be open weekdays during normal business hours. However, eight days before an election, the early voting sites would be open later in the evening and at specified times on the weekend. We need to encourage greater participation in our democracy and we need to give our people a better and more expedient way to use their right to vote. |
