Subject: Name Change Legislation
 
We plan to introduce legislation that reforms the way people change their name when married.

It reforms an archaic process that requires newly-married couples to jump through unnecessary and cumbersome hoops to change their names. Rather than sending people through the courts as is currently stipulated, this bill will make it a more efficient process through local prothonotary offices.

The bill also streamlines the name-change process by updating publication requirements to post online and sets up a database to search name changes (with some exceptions).
