Subject: | BPA Free Food and Beverage Containers |
Bisphenol A is an industrial chemical used to make polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins which are often used in many containers that store food and beverages, such as water bottles, baby bottles, and food cans. In recent years, many reputable scientific studies have found that the chemical poses serious health risks such as cancer, autism, heart disease and reproductive abnormalities, particularly to infants and young children.
Across the nation, efforts have been made to ban the use of BPA in the manufacture of baby and toddler products. I am proposing legislation to ban the use of this dangerous product in all food and beverage containers manufactured, sold or distributed in Pennsylvania.
I ask that you join me in co-sponsoring this important food safety measure. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
