Subject: | Spread Pricing Legislation |
Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) often reimburse pharmacies one price for a prescription drug and charge an insurer or health plan another price and pocket the difference. This type of pricing scheme is called “spread pricing.” This scheme, while legal, is shrouded in secrecy and lacking transparency. Pennsylvanians will continue to pay higher prices at the drug counter if we cannot understand the impact of spread pricing schemes. That is why I am introducing legislation that will require PBMs to disclose how much they reimburse a pharmacy for a drug, and how much they charge an insurer or health plan for that same drug. Please join with me in providing transparency to spread pricing and help save your constituents money on their prescription drugs. |
