Subject: | School Contractors Tax Exemption (Former HB 356) |
I intend to reintroduce legislation (former HB 356 from the 2017-18 Legislative Session) that will assist school districts across the Commonwealth. If enacted, this legislation will provide a Sale and Use tax (SUT) exemption for items and/or services purchased by a contractor(s) on behalf of a school district, intermediate unit, area vocational-technical school or charter school that are related to a construction project. Providing educational institutions with sufficient funding is a priority of the General Assembly. The task of providing adequate funding only becomes more muddled when schools are engaged in construction projects. By instituting a SUT exemption we provide schools with additional revenue while not increasing the tax burden on homeowners in Pennsylvania. I hope you will join me in sponsoring this important legislation. Previous Co-sponsors: BENNINGHOFF, MURT, ZIMMERMAN, BARRAR, JAMES, MENTZER, B. MILLER, PEIFER, GABLER, PICKETT, and EVERETT |
