|Subject:||Restroom Access for Individuals with Medical Conditions|
|We have all had the horrible feeling of being in a store and needing a bathroom, but not having access to one. This is a constant threat that Pennsylvanians with Irritable Bowel Disease (IBD) deal with on a daily basis. Individuals with IBD typically have been diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease or ulcerative colitis. Immediate access to restroom facilities is critical for individuals with IBD. Unfortunately, in some public places, access is not always permitted. I am introducing legislation that will help this situation.
My legislation would require retail establishments to permit a customer with IBD to use their restrooms during normal business hours if a number of conditions apply. By allowing these individuals’ use of these facilities we will provide a great assistance and provide them with dignity of not worrying about an accident. In addition, this bill could help prevent possible health risks to the public.
We can provide a better quality of life for those Pennsylvanians and their families living with these diseases. I ask for your support and to join me in supporting this legislation.
