|Subject:||Predictable Recorder of Deeds Fee Legislation|
In the near future I plan on introducing Legislation that would create a modern and predicable schedule of fees for the services provided by the Recorder of Deeds across the state.
The current schedule of fees was last adjusted in 1982 and since then there has been a drastic change in how deeds are recorded and the amount of paper work that is involved. This has resulted many counties charging differing amounts for different services leading to confusing between home buyers, title associations and other parties.
My legislation attempts to address this confusion by standardizing what can be charged for the various services. This will ultimately result in making it easier and cheaper for home buyers to complete their purchases.
This legislation is the result of months of discussions with the County Commissioners Association, the Recorder of Deeds Association and the Pennsylvania Land Title Association which all feel that this legislation will bring this archaic act into the 21st century.
If you wish to join me in sponsoring this important legislation please contact my Harrisburg office.
