Subject: Sergeant John Emerick Memorial Bridge
 
In the near future, I will introduce legislation to honor Sergeant John Emerick.

The bill will designate a future bridge on State Route 88 in Washington County as the John Emerick Memorial Bridge.

Sergeant Emerick enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1940. While serving in the Philippines, he was forced to endure what later came to be known as the Bataan Death March.

He survived the march and 42 months of capture and was rescued on September 12, 1945.
