Subject:	Recognizing Community Theatre Organizations in the Commonwealth

In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution designating the week of June 3 through 9, 2018, as “Community Theatre Week” in Pennsylvania in recognition of the significant impact that these organizations have had on the cultural landscape of this Commonwealth. As the theatre community prepares to celebrate and honor the outstanding performances and professional productions at this year’s Tony Awards, it is vital that we support and embrace our local community theatres. These organizations vibrantly bring the arts to life for audiences of all ages and socio-economic backgrounds while at the same time introducing Pennsylvanians to new worlds of experience, emotion, and knowledge. Given that community theatre has enriched countless lives, let us show our appreciation to the passionate individuals who dedicate themselves to entertaining and educating their friends and neighbors in their local theatres. Please join me in designating the week of June 3 through 9, 2018, as “Community Theatre Week” in Pennsylvania.
