House Co-Sponsorship Memoranda

In the near future I plan to introduce a Resolution proclaiming April as Sikh Awareness and Appreciation Month.

The Sikhs, who originated in Punjab, India, came to the US more than a century back. The first Sikh Temple was established in Stockton, CA, in 1912. Since then, they have richly contributed in many spheres especially in farming, transportation, technology, medicine and retail business. A Sikh band, White Sun II, even won a Grammy in new age category.

The faithful service of the Sikh American community to this state, county and country merits appreciation as an integral thread in the fabric of American plurality.
