|Subject:||Increase PIT to Fund Safe Schools Targeted Grants Program|
|On February 21, 2018, my office circulated a co-sponsorship memo proposing increased funding for the Safe Schools Targeted Grants program. To accompany this proposal, I am also offering an amendment to the Tax Reform Code that would increase the personal income tax (PIT) rate by 0.007 percent, taking the current PIT rate from 3.07 percent to 3.077 percent. This 0.007 percent increase, which is expected to raise approximately $30 million annually, would go directly towards the Safe Schools Targeted Grants program.
This bill package is an integral step towards ensuring the appropriate safety and security measures are put in place throughout our schools. Please join me in co-sponsoring this important legislation.
