|Subject:||2018 – The Year of the Pennsylvania Woman Resolution|
|In the near future, I will introduce a resolution to declare 2018 as “The Year of the Pennsylvania Woman” to celebrate the accomplishments, courage and tenacity of the women of our Commonwealth.
With the recent societal examination and debate regarding whether women have truly attained equality, women continue to give selflessly to their communities and achieve greatness in their professions. I believe it is time to acknowledge the many Pennsylvania women whose acts and deeds have improved lives not only in our Commonwealth, but throughout the nation.
My resolution focuses on the positive acts and accomplishments of women who have made a difference and who continue to strive toward success. This resolution bestows honor on women in many walks of life – including the arts, medicine, government, entertainment, sports and philanthropy – who have accomplished impressive and, often, life-changing deeds and goals. From artists to doctors and from engineers to pioneers, women of Pennsylvania have achieved success and have made a positive impact.
Their achievements should be celebrated. By naming 2018 as “The Year of the Pennsylvania Woman,” we encourage women – no matter their age, their background, their rural, suburban or urban geography – to pursue and attain their dreams and goals.
Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation.
