|Subject:||Legislation Amending the Public Utility Confidential Security Information Disclosure Protection Act|
|In the near future, I will be introducing legislation that would amend Act 156 of 2006, also known as the Public Utility Confidential Security Information Disclosure Protection Act.
Specifically, this legislation would authorize state agencies to disclose pipeline-related public utility records (or portions thereof) that contain confidential security information after consultation and notification with a public utility company. Under this measure, public utility records would not be subject to the Right-to-Know Law.
State agencies are currently hindered in their attempt to work together with regard to the oversight of certain pipelines that do not fall under federal jurisdiction. It is my sincerest hope that by providing for greater communication between agencies of the Commonwealth, they will be better equipped to provide for the public health, safety and welfare of our citizens.
I hope you will join me in co-sponsoring this important legislation.
