Subject: | Trooper Gary Fisher Memorial Bridge |
I will be introducing legislation designating a bridge on a portion of Route 271 over Route 22 in Jackson Township, Cambria County, to the Trooper Gary Fisher Memorial Bridge to honor a Pennsylvania State Trooper who lost his life while on duty. Gary W. Fisher was born on April 2, 1958, to William and Patricia Fisher in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the Pennsylvania State Police on September 8, 1980 at the age of 22. Following graduation from the State Police Academy, he was assigned to Troop B in Washington County. In May of 1983, he transferred to the Region V Strike Force. On February 3, 1985, at the age of 26, Trooper Fisher was shot and killed in the line of duty while attempting to make an arrest during a drug exchange at the Crossroads Plaza, East Huntingdon Township, Westmoreland County. Please join me in honoring Trooper Gary Fisher. Thank you. |
