Subject: Removing wind turbine tax exemption from property tax assessments
 
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation to include wind energy generation structures in the assessment value of property located in all Commonwealth counties, except Philadelphia and Allegheny.

Currently, Title 53 (Municipalities Generally) exempts wind energy generation structures (wind turbine generators or related wind energy appliances and equipment) from determining the fair market value and assessment of real property. As a result, tax revenue that would be generated for local school districts, which are in need of school funding, would be diverted to large corporations - in many cases that are out of state/country.
