Subject: | Resolution Recognizing the Reality of Food Insecurity in PA |
We plan on introducing a non-controversial resolution recognizing the reality of food insecurity in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and to express appreciation for the work and donations of the many Pennsylvanians who help those struggling with food insecurity. Food insecurity negatively impacts Pennsylvanians all over the Commonwealth. It occurs in rural communities, suburban communities and urban communities and a lack of access to nutritionally adequate food is connected to a number of negative health effects in children and adults. Food and nutrition assistance programs, however, have shown to alleviate food insecurity and reduce diet-related diseases and through charitable giving, volunteer efforts and advocacy, Pennsylvanians support a network of food assistance providers. It is vitally important that the House of Representatives recognizes the importance of these programs and those who support them. Please join us in co-sponsoring this resolution. Thank you. |
