MEMORANDUM

To: All House members
Subject: PA One Call Compliance for Developers working with the Commonwealth Financing Authority

In the near future, I will be introducing a bill that would require private developers and their subcontractors, who receive assistance or funding from the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA), to be fully compliant with the PA One Call system.

As you know, the PA One Call system locates and alerts contractors and workers of buried utility lines prior to digging or construction. This important system saves lives by informing workers about underground electric, natural gas, sewer, and other utility lines. With this knowledge, dangerous situations can be avoided. The Commonwealth Financing Authority has the important job of developing and re-developing properties within Pennsylvania.

Requiring an extra layer of safety by requiring CFA developers to comply with PA One Call is the right thing to do and a smart use of Commonwealth dollars. Please consider joining me as a co-sponsor of this legislation.
