MEMORANDUM

Posted: June 2, 2017 11:05 AM
From: Representative Jim Marshall
To: All House members
Subject: Clubs 6-Pack

In the near future I plan on introducing legislation that will amend the liquor code to permit clubs to sell beer for off-premise consumption. .

Retail liquor licenses are permitted to sell malt or brewed beverages to customers for consumption off the licensed premises. While they are permitted to do so, current law precludes a licensee holding a club license from doing the same. Clubs are subject to strict guidelines and rules and operate for the good of the club membership. Even though the sale of alcohol must be secondary to the reason for the club’s existence, precluding members of those clubs from purchasing a 6-pack for off-premise consumption is unreasonable.

This legislation will allow the member of a club to purchase beer to go from the club at which they are a member.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to consider co-sponsoring my legislation.

Introduced as HB1741
