Subject: Emergency Responder Vehicles Visual Signals and Identification (Prior HB 2022)
In the near future, I plan on reintroducing legislation (Prior HB 2022) that will continue to support emergency responders through the use of visual signals and improved identification methods.

This legislation will acknowledge the need for additional line officers or personnel to address the needs of growing fire departments by increasing the number of authorized vehicles per department that can have an “emergency vehicle” designation.

In addition, this legislation will provide for the inclusion of a better form of identification that every responder vehicle with a blue visual signal displays so that citizens are aware of the agency that the driver of the vehicle represents. The identification shall take the form of a license plate or door decal with department insignia.

These improvements serve as additional safety measures for both individual community members and emergency responders.

Our first responders dedicate their time to keep our communities safe and it is the top priority of the government to assure the safety and welfare of all citizens. This legislation is necessary to ensure that our emergency responders are able to perform their duties in the most effective way possible.

Please consider co-sponsoring this legislation.
