MEMORANDUM

Subject: Resolution to congratulate the Penn State Wrestling Team on winning the National Championship

In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution congratulating the Pennsylvania State University wrestling team on winning their sixth NCAA National Championship.

There are many words that can be used to describe the Penn State wrestling team, but none are more appropriate than “dominant.” Over the past seven years, the PSU wrestling team has won six national championships, it’s most recent on March 18, 2017. In addition to winning the team championship, five PSU wrestlers, Zain Retherford (149), Jason Nolf (157), Vincenzo Joseph (165), Mark Hall (174), and Bo Nickal (184), won individual national championships in their respective weight classes. The five individual championships ties a record set by Iowa in 1997 and Oklahoma State in 2005, with Penn State being the first to win at five consecutive weight classes. Under the leadership of head coach Cael Sanderson, the Penn State wrestling team has become a dynasty.

Please join me in congratulating the Pennsylvania State University wrestling team on winning their sixth NCAA National Championship in seven years.
