Subject: Resolution Honoring Fire Police Officers

I am planning to introduce a resolution honoring Pennsylvania fire police officers for their dedication in providing services.

Fire police officers are dedicated volunteers trained to provide assistance during emergencies and risk their lives serving the residents. They are certified in fire police operations by the Commonwealth and/or the county in which they volunteer. In addition to many other duties, fire police officers regulate traffic, provide safe landing zones for helicopters and ensure that emergency areas are clear for firefighting during an emergency.

Individuals registering as a fire police officer must abide by an oath of office and be sworn in by a judge or justice. They are authorized to enforce federal and state laws and arrest individuals violating such laws including, but not limited to, provisions pertaining to fire department activities, firefighting techniques and emergency vehicle operations.

Please join me in honoring our dedicated volunteer fire police officers in Pennsylvania.
