Session of 2017 - 2018 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: February 17, 2017 03:08 PM
From: Representative Gary Day
To: All House members
Subject: Amending the Liquor Code

As you may know, last session the General Assembly passed historic liquor legislation (Act 369) that radically impacted our archaic liquor system. In addition, you may be aware of a provision of the legislation that imposed a seven-hundred dollar surcharge on our liquor licensees. This surcharge impacts all licensee holders, regardless of type of licensee, or how much revenue such licensee holder generates.

My legislation amends the seven-hundred dollar surcharge with a scaling surcharge. This scaling surcharge will be fairer compared to the flat seven-hundred charge.

It is my belief that this legislation will provide relief to our smaller licensee holders, and may bring in more revenue when charging bigger licensee holders.

Thank you in advance for consideration of my legislation.
