Subject: Vehicle Rental Company
 
In the near future Rep. Marcy Toepel and I intend to introduce legislation that would prevent insurance companies from directing consumers to a specific vehicle rental company.

Insurance companies that handle temporary replacement rentals tend to direct customers towards national vehicle rental companies with who they have contracts, instead of locally based businesses. Many times, consumers are unaware that there may be other vehicle rental company options to choose from. This legislation will prevent insurance companies from directing consumers to use designated vehicle rental companies when obtaining their insurance rentals, which will provide consumers with more options and allow local companies to compete with national companies.
