| Subject: | Co-sponsor Memo - Independent forensic audit of the Intellectual Disabilities Waiver funding. |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation asking the Pennsylvania Auditor General to conduct an independent forensic audit of the Intellectual Disabilities Waiver Funding waiting list and waiver funding program. As you are aware, the Department of Human Services requested an additional $6.3 million line item for fiscal year 2016-17 to expand services to 700 special education graduates and provide waiver funding to 250 individuals on the emergency waiting list. However, the Department spent this funding elsewhere. Suitable answers have not been forthcoming from Department. I feel it is the responsibility of the legislature to ensure that taxpayers’ dollars are being spent the way they are appropriated. Please join me in sponsoring this important legislation. |
