MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 25, 2017 02:28 PM
From: Representative Angel Cruz
To: All House members
Subject: Resolution Designating September 15 through October 15 as “Hispanic Heritage Month”

In the near future I plan to offer a resolution designating September 15 through October 15, 2017 as “Hispanic Heritage Month” in Pennsylvania.

To honor the achievements of Hispanic Americans, Congress requested that the President annually issue a proclamation designating September 15 through October 15 as "National Hispanic Heritage Month.”

This resolution encourages Pennsylvanians to celebrate the value of our diversity and the rich Hispanic culture in our Commonwealth.

Latinos are the largest minority ethnic group in the United States today, with about 870,000 residing in Pennsylvania in 2015 based on Census population estimates. Hispanic Americans have shown their devotion to this country and have made valuable contributions through business, industry, politics, education, sciences, sports and the arts.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution to honor Hispanic Americans and acknowledge the incredible contributions they have made to this Commonwealth.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact my Harrisburg office at 717-705-1925.

Thank you in advance for your consideration.
