Subject: | Patient Comfort & Palliative Care (re-introduction of former HB 630 2015-16 session) |
For the upcoming session of 2017-18, I intend to re-introduce legislation that creates the Patient Comfort Act, which establishes a Patient's Bill of Rights for Palliative Care and Pain Management, including the right for terminally ill patients to be informed by a physician of all available options related to terminal care. The bill would also require the Department of Health to establish a Palliative Care and Pain Management Task Force -- whose purpose would be to help patients gain access for services and propose solutions for addressing gaps in services. A copy of the legislation is attached for your review and consideration. Please join me in sponsoring this important legislation. Previous co-sponsors include: V. BROWN, DAVIDSON, FRANKEL, McNEILL, KORTZ, YOUNGBLOOD, READSHAW, KINSEY, M. DALEY, DEASY, BIZZARRO, ROZZI, PASHINSKI, D. COSTA, BROWNLEE and MAHONEY |
