|Subject:||Shifting Small Games of Chance Oversight to the Gaming Control Board|
|In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that would shift oversight of responsibilities related to the Local Option Small Games of Chance Act from the Department of Revenue to the Gaming Control Board. Though it may have been necessary for the Department to oversee these regulations at the time of enactment, the Board is now the chief regulatory authority for gambling throughout the Commonwealth. Shifting these responsibilities to the Board will allow for a consolidation of oversight.
This legislation would also grant the Board the authority to approve new small games that meet certain requirements in order to eliminate the need for the General Assembly to pass legislation regarding new small games that are created.
Please join me in co-sponsoring this important legislation.
Introduced as HB1711
