House of Representatives
Session of 2017 - 2018 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 5, 2017 02:37 PM
From: Representative Robert Freeman
To: All House members
Subject: Proposed Legislation: Constitutional Amendment (Former House Bill 1772)

In the near future, I intend to introduce legislation that would amend the Pennsylvania Constitution to provide the Auditor General with the authority to audit the financial affairs of the General Assembly and its legislative service agencies.

This legislation is a companion bill to my proposal to allow the Auditor General to conduct Audits of the General Assembly. Although audits by the Auditor General could be conducted without the passage of a constitutional amendment, some attorneys in the LRB felt a grant of constitutional authority may be required. As such, I am introducing this bill as well. Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation.

If you have any questions regarding this legislation, please contact Danielle Kline via e-mail at dkline@pahouse.net or by phone at 783-3815.

Previous co-sponsors: Murt, Samuelson, Youngblood, Schweyer, Rozzi, Mahoney, McNeill, Dean, Kim, Gillen and DeLuca
