MEMORANDUM

Posted: December 21, 2016 12:05 PM
From: Representative Thomas P. Murt
To: All House members
Subject: Legislative Fundraising (Prior HB 1003)

I am planning to reintroduce legislation regarding legislative fundraising on session days when either chamber of the General Assembly is in session.

This legislation would prohibit any person from offering or giving a public official or public employee of the legislative branch, or member of their immediate family or business in which they are associated, anything of monetary value, including a gift, loan or political contribution for a campaign for office in the legislative branch.

Furthermore, this legislation would also prohibit a public official or public employee of the legislative branch from soliciting or accepting anything of monetary value as mentioned above, for a campaign for office in the legislative branch.

Introduced as HB764
