Session of 2015 - 2016 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: June 7, 2016 11:01 AM
From: Representative Jason Ortitay
To: All House members
Subject: Allowing Public Employees to Serve as Judges or Inspectors of Election Legislation

In the near future, I intend to introduce legislation that will permit a public employee to serve as an election officer in the Commonwealth. Currently, public employees are prohibited from serving in this capacity by the Constitution of Pennsylvania. My legislation is a joint resolution to amend the Constitution of Pennsylvania that will require approval in consecutive sessions and a voter referendum.

Public employees should have the same rights as people working in the private sector to serve their neighbors as election officers. Please join me in cosponsoring this important piece of legislation.

Introduced as HB2283
