Subject: | Resolution: Opioid Treatment Recommendations |
Upon our return, I will be introducing a Resolution directing the Joint State Government Commission to conduct a study and publish a report on the treatment for opioid addition. The following topics would be studied: 1. The benefits, cost and drawbacks of alternative drug treatment programs which utilize FDA approved medications for the treatment of opioid dependence. 2. The benefits, cost and drawbacks of utilizing alternative treatments (such as meditation, yoga, mentoring, etc.). 3. The feasibility of re-opening the state hospital system as detox/rehab facilities which would have an added advantage reusing vacant state-owned property and providing family-sustaining jobs throughout the Commonwealth. In an effort to be more proactive with this epidemic, perhaps it is not a one-tiered system that works but a multi-tiered system that will help these individuals, our family, friends, neighbors, in dealing with addiction. The Joint State Government Commission does an outstanding job of providing us with information. I'm confident they will be able to give us some solutions to this on-going problem. If you have any questions, please contact Margaret Tricarico at 717-772-5568, Democratic Extension 6168 or mtricari@pahouse.net Thank you. Previous co-sponsors. This is a new Resolution. |
