Subject: Resolution honoring the service and sacrifice of Captain Arthur E. Halfpapp
 
In the near future, I will introduce a resolution to honor the service and sacrifice of Captain Arthur E. Halfpapp, a native of Steelton, Pennsylvania, as his remains are returned home to their final resting place at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery on April 14, 2016.

Captain Halfpapp was assigned to the 87th Fighter Squadron, 79th Fighter Group, during World War II. On April 24, 1945, Captain Halfpapp departed Cesenatico, Italy, on his 103rd mission, which would tragically be his last. During a heroic battle, Captain Halfpaap’s P-47 Thunderbolt was shot down near the Po River and no signs of him or his plain were found. However, in 2014, after investigation of a crash site by the Italian association, Archeologi dell’Aria, it was determined that the belongings and remains of Captain Halfpaap had been found.

Please join me as a co-sponsor of this resolution to honor and recognize Captain Halfpapp, a highly decorated war hero who gave his life defending this great nation, as he makes his final return home.
