Subject: | Expanding the City Revitalization and Improvement Zone (CRIZ) program to include Cities of the Second Class A |
I plan to introduce legislation that would amend the City Revitalization and Improvement Zone (CRIZ) program in order to enable cities of the second class A to participate. The CRIZ program which provides critical opportunities to selected third class cities (with a population of at least 30,000) to spur new growth, revive downtowns, and create jobs for residents through the development of vacant, desolate, underutilized or abandoned space. Therefore, I believe it is unfair to restrict the Commonwealth’s only second class A city, Scranton, which has a population of over 75,000, from being eligible to apply for the program, Please join me in co-sponsoring this important legislation. |
