Subject: | Co-sponsor: Private lateral sewage line maintenance legislation |
In the near future, I will be re-introducing House Bill 703 (2013 Session) which deals with sewage line maintenance. As you may be aware, a major cause of wet weather overflows relates to deteriorating private lateral sewage lines draining into the public sewer system. In order to provide public funding to assist homeowners in repairing these malfunctioning laterals, this bill would amend the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority Act to allow municipalities to include private lateral rehabilitation or replacement in PennVEST funding applications when determined by the municipality that it is the most cost effective approach to reduce wet weather sewer overflows. If you have any questions regarding this legislation, please contact Margaret Tricarico at mtricari@pahouse.net or 717-772-5568 (Democratic Caucus Ext. 6168). Thank you.
