MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 22, 2015 12:04 PM
From: Representative Thomas P. Murt
To: All House members
Subject: Resolution Directing LBFC to Study Access to Community Mental Health Services (Prior HR 1018)

In the near future, I plan to reintroduce a House Resolution authorizing and directing the Legislative Budget and Finance Committee to undertake a study of access to community mental health services for Pennsylvania families.

Many of us have received calls and letters from our constituents, expressing their frustrations with the long waiting lists for mental health services, and asking for our help on behalf of their family members. While our county mental health agencies and their contracted providers try to stretch the dollars we have been able to make available to them as far as they can, we need to know if the resources available to these agencies are sufficient to ensure access to needed services when Pennsylvania families need them.
