MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 12, 2015 03:58 PM
From: Representative Brad Roae
To: All House members
Subject: Mandating that school board members be present during union contract negotiations.

In the near future, I will introduce legislation that would amend the school code to mandate that at least one school board member is present for all union contract negotiation sessions and that all school board members are allowed to attend all union contract negotiation sessions. A superintendent, solicitor, business manager, etc., would be prohibited from meeting with the union to negotiate the union contract unless at least one school board member was present, all school board members were advised of the meeting 72 hours in advance and all 9 members were allowed to participate.

I would greatly appreciate your support of this legislation. Thank you for your consideration.
