Subject: | Legislation to Exempt Library Book Sales from Sales Tax |
In the near future I will be reintroducing HB 62, which will exempt local and county libraries in Pennsylvania from the state sales tax when they sell used books. My intent is to alleviate the burden and inconvenience for public libraries to implement the sales tax, especially considering that most libraries only have annual or biannual book sales. With the drastic budget cuts libraries have endured in recent years, this small change is an important gesture. The following members co-sponsored HB 62 in the 2015-16 Session: D. COSTA, FRANKEL , CONKLIN , LONGIETTI , HESS , O'BRIEN , SIMMONS, RAVENSTAHL, CARROLL , DUNBAR, BROWNLEE, CUTLER , P.
