Subject: Criminal Justice Enhancement Account
 
In the near future, I am planning to reintroduce former House Bill 1232 from last session. This legislation amends Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) by providing for the Criminal Justice Enhancement Account.

Currently, the Commonwealth's share of district attorney reimbursement salary payments is to be paid into the Account on an annual basis. Since this payment is a reimbursement, counties must therefore pay the Commonwealth’s full share of the annual salary “up front”. My bill provides for equal quarterly payments. This would reduce the strain on county budgets without increasing or diminishing salaries or the amount of the Commonwealth’s current obligation.
