Subject: Public School Cost Savings through Bulk Purchasing
 
In the near future, I will be re-introducing HB 1450 from last session. This bill authorizes the Department of General Services (DGS) to procure school supplies for all the public schools in the Commonwealth. I believe we will see substantial savings for our school districts if DGS was responsible to procuring all school supplies for the Commonwealth. Streamlining this process will give DGS the ability to buy school supplies in bulk and negotiate significant discounts. These savings will be passed on to the school districts and taxpayers.

I think focusing on implementing efficiencies within the public school system make sense. Please join me in this effort.
