Session of 2015 - 2016 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: December 19, 2014 10:03 AM
From: Representative Neal P. Goodman
To: All House members
Subject: Ban on Political Robocalls

I will be re-introducing legislation (previous HB 419) to offer an opt-out provision for those who prefer not to receive political robocalls.

The recently completed election has once again drawn attention to the proliferation of these pre-recorded campaign messages. As indicated by feedback from my constituents, nothing annoys them more than coming home from work to find their voice mail full of robocalls, not to mention receiving them directly with increasing frequency as the election approaches.

My legislation will allow people to opt-out of political robocalls, similar to the Do Not Call list currently provided for telemarketing advertisements.

Introduced as HB387
