MEMORANDUM

Posted: December 10, 2012 04:13 PM
From: Representative Neal P. Goodman
To: All House members
Subject: Increase Pension for Blind and Paralyzed Veterans

In the near future, I will be introducing legislation to increase the monthly pensions for our Commonwealth’s blind and paralyzed veterans. The pensions have not been increased since 1999. This legislation is identical to former House Bill 305 PN 3593 from the 2011-12 Legislative Session.

Currently, Pennsylvania veterans who suffered service-connected injuries or diseases that caused blindness, paralysis, or the loss of two or more extremities are eligible to receive a pension of $150 per month. My legislation would increase the pension to $200 per month. These veterans have sacrificed so much for our country, and they have more than earned this small monthly stipend to help them with expenses.

Introduced as HB381
