Session of 2013 - 2014 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: June 17, 2014 01:49 PM
From: Representative Kathy L. Rapp
To: All House members
Subject: Wind Turbine Impact Study

While wind turbines were once assumed to have no adverse environmental impacts, onshore wind-energy facilities have been reported to kill thousands of migratory birds and require the clearing of large areas of forested land.

As I feel that wildlife conservation and energy efficiency should be major considerations in the development of viable sources of alternative energy, in the near future, I will introduce a resolution directing the Joint State Government Commission to conduct a study and report on the scale and impact of wind turbines in the Commonwealth.

Please join me in sponsoring this resolution to help ensure our alternative energy production is both safe and efficient.

Thank you for your consideration.
