Subject: | Requiring PennDOT to Accept Credit or Debit Card Transactions |
In the near future, I will introduce legislation which requires PennDOT within one year to accept credit or debit card transactions as payment at all of its licensing centers. Currently, PennDOT only accepts checks or money orders at its licensing centers. Online transactions with PennDOT do allow for the use of credit or debit cards; therefore, it is simply a matter of updating the local offices. With the advent of widespread credit and debit card use by consumers, many people no longer carry a checkbook with them. This is simply a commonsense and customer oriented move which PennDOT should have made years ago. Please join me in sponsoring this piece of legislation which will move PennDOT licensing centers into conformance with the rest of the business world. |
